American indie rock group Young the Giant was founded in 2004 in Irvine, California. The members of the group are François Comtois on bass guitar, Jacob Tilley on guitars, Eric Cannata on guitars, and Sameer Gadhia on lead vocals and auxiliary percussion (drums).
Young the Giant, formerly known as The Jakes, was signed by Roadrunner Records in 2009 and issued their self-titled first album in 2010. The Jakes was established in Irvine, California, in 2004. Following a series of lineup changes over the following few years for various reasons, the group's permanent lineup, which included Sameer Gadhia, was founded in 2008.
