Andy Tongren, the lead vocalist and guitarist for the Young Rising Sons, together with Julian Dimagiba, Steve Patrick, and former lead guitarist Dylan Scott, started the band in 2010. The band's musical inspirations span widely, from Queen and The Four Tops to Rancid and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Patrick and Scott Dimagiba shared a musical upbringing in Red Bank, New Jersey. The other band members approached Andy Tongren about taking the lead vocals in their newly formed band after seeing him play an acoustic set at a New York City bar.
