Yetunde Reeves began her career teaching social studies in Oakland, California. She earned her master's degree from UCLA and her doctorate from Mills College. Since then, she has served in a variety of leadership positions around the San Francisco Bay Area, most notably as the school's first principal in Oakland's EXCEL High School, where Dr. Reeves created a culture where more than 75 percent of the school's graduates continue their education. She has been the executive director of secondary education in Hayward, California, for the last two years.
