Yasmina Reza Biography

Yasmina Reza, who was born in 1959, first attended Paris X University before transferring to the Jacques Lecoq Drama School. She started out as an actor in France, where she performed in a lot of modern plays as well as ones by Molière Marivaux and Sacha Guitry. She wrote Conversations after a Burial in 1987 with the intention of performing it in France, and she was honored with numerous awards, including the prestigious Molière Award for best author. After being performed in France, the drama was translated and presented in South America and Europe. The play Art had its Berlin premiere before moving to Paris in 1994, where it was given the Molière Award for best play, best author, and best production. Additionally, it took home awards for best comedy in London and best foreign play in Germany. Production of The Unexpected Man (1995) took place in London, France, and other European nations. The Royal Shakespeare Company revived it in 1998 at the London Barbican, and it has also been performed in New York. Yasmina Reza has written plays in addition to screenplays for the recent European releases of See You Tomorrow and Lulu Kreutz's Picnic. In 1997, her book Hammerklavier was released.
