Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio Martnez made her acting debut in Alfonso Cuarón's 2018 drama Roma as Cleo, which led to her being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. She was included among the top 100 world influencers by Time magazine in 2019. Aparicio was born in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, on December 11, 1993.
Her father is Mixtec and her mother is Triqui, and both of her parents are of indigenous descent. She had to learn the Mixtec language for her role in Roma even though she is not fluent in it. A single mother who also worked as a maid reared Aparicio.
