Wyche Fowler, Jr. is a politician and ambassador from the United States. He is a Democratic Party member who served as the United States Senator from Georgia from January 1987 until January 1993. From 1977 until his election to the Senate, he served in the United States House of Representatives. Fowler was born in the city of Atlanta in the state of Georgia. He went to Davidson College before joining the United States Army as an intelligence operator. Following his release, he went to Emory University School of Law to get a law degree. He served as Congressman Charles Weltner's chief of staff from 1965 to 1966, and after two years, he quit to pursue a career as a private attorney. He was an Atlanta City Councilman from 1974 to 1977, and he utilized that post as a stepping stone to the House.
