The Wall Street Journal publisher and chief executive of Dow Jones and Company is a British media executive named William Lewis. He was first recognized for his work as a journalist, then as an editor. Lewis served as the Daily Telegraph's editor when his team broke the story of the MPs' expenses scandal, which resulted in the resignations of six additional government ministers, including Speaker of the House of Commons Michael Martin, and the establishment of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority. Lewis served as General Manager of newspaper publisher News International from September 2010 to July 2011, when he contributed to the company's reaction to the phone hacking scandal. Lewis left News International in July 2011 after the News of the World was shut down to join the Management and Standards Committee, a separate department run by Lord Grabiner QC that was established by the News Corp board to coordinate cooperation with various law enforcement investigations into News International.
