Creed Bratton is an actor and former member of The Grass Roots. He was born William Charles Schneider on February 8, 1943. He grew up in Coarsegold, California, a tiny hamlet near Yosemite National Park, after being born in Los Angeles. His grandmother, mother, and father were all musicians, and he developed an early interest in music.
He got his first guitar from a Sears catalog when he was 13 years old. During his high school and college years, he worked as a professional musician. His name was changed to Chuck Ertmoed after his mother remarried.
