About Willa Holland
Willa Holland Biography
She is most recognized for her role on the television show The O.C. as Kaitlin Cooper, Marissa Cooper's younger sister. She played Agnes Andrews on The CW's Gossip Girl and Thea Queen on The CW's Arrow. Holland is the daughter of cinematographer Keith Holland and actress Darnell Gregorio-De Palma and was born in Los Angeles. Brianna Holland (born 1988) and Piper De Palma are her two sisters (born 1996). Holland grew up in Chelsea, London, for most of her life. During that time, she worked on the set of her stepfather's film Mission: Impossible, which was directed by Brian De Palma. Kenter Canyon Elementary School, Paul Revere Middle School, and Palisades Charter High School were all places she attended. Holland and her family spent the summer of 1999 in The Hamptons. After spending the day with now-model Shadat Patwary at Steven Spielberg's house, she decided to make a career out of acting. You have to put her in front of a camera! Spielberg advised her mother. Holland signed with Ford Modeling Agency when she returned to Los Angeles in September of that year, at the age of seven, and quickly scheduled a Burberry shoot. De Palma took Willa to a theatrical talent agency the next year, in 1999. She's done a lot of national ads since then. Willa was eleven years old when she worked on Ordinary Madness with her cinematographer father in 2001. She was even set to feature with fellow model Rachel Nichols in the 2005 FOX series The Inside, but she dropped out when writer Tim Minear was brought in to revamp the project. On The O.C., she portrayed Kaitlin Cooper, first as a recurring character in season 3 and later as a regular in season 4. Willa Holland, who played Marissa Cooper's (Mischa Barton) rebellious little sister, was a fan of The O.C. before winning the part. Holland has appeared on the covers of Teen Vogue and Fashion 18 and has been featured in CosmoGirl! She's also starred in the Montana Meth Project's "That Guy" campaign. Willa was cast in the indie drama film Garden Party in December 2007. April, a disturbed adolescent wannabe model who attempts to make it in Los Angeles, was played by Willa. On July 11, 2008, the film premiered at select theatres in Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle. Despite Willa's high accolades for her performance, reviewers gave the picture mediocre to unfavorable reviews. Willa had a three-episode role in the second season of The CW Teen Drama television series Gossip Girl, which premiered in September 2008. Josh Schwartz, who developed The O.C., is also the show's creator. Willa portrayed a rebellious sixteen-year-old model who befriends Taylor Momsen's character and causes mayhem. Willa made a one-off comeback to the series in March 2010 in The Empire Strikes Jack, the sixteenth episode of the third season, which aired on March 29, 2010. Square Enix announced on May 17, 2010, that she will be voicing Aqua in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, a PlayStation Portable game that was published on September 7, 2010, in North America. Willa starred in her first major studio picture, Legion, the apocalyptic thriller, in which she played a brattish adolescent. She also made a significant cameo appearance in the film The Last Song, and she as Janice Heddon, a teen-temptress in the adaptation of the 1971 film of the same name, in the film Straw Dogs. In September of 2011, the film was released. Holland was recruited in The CW program Arrow in February 2012, where she portrays Thea Queen, Oliver Queen's sister.
