Cody Cannon and Cody Tate began writing music in a modest rental home in the sleepy East Texas town of Elkhart, Texas, just yearning for the success that would undoubtedly come next. They began to collaborate with friend and guitarist John Jeffers' talent and inventiveness.
They had only three people at the time, but they went by the name Lucky Southern. They relocated to Tyler, Texas as their motivation grew over time. They met up there with Jeff Hogg, a common acquaintance and drummer from Palestine, Texas, and Gary Brown, a bassist who grew up in Neches, Texas.
