Ralph Eubanks is the author of Ever Is a Long Time: A Journey Into Mississippi's Dark Past, which was chosen one of the finest nonfiction books of 2003 by Washington Post book reviewer Jonathan Yardley. He has written for the Washington Post's Outlook and Style sections, as well as for the Chicago Tribune, Preservation, The American Scholar, and NPR.
He received a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship in 2007 and is a fellow at the New America Foundation. He graduated from the University of Mississippi (BA) and the University of Michigan (MA, English Language and Literature). He has been the Library of Congress's director of publication since 1995.
