The Savage Femmes were an American alternative musical group that operated from 1980 until 2009. They were formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The band continued as a trio, with Gordon Gano as vocalist-guitarist and musician, Brian Ritchie as bassist, and two drummers, Victor DeLorenzo (1980 and 1993/2002 and 2009) and Guy Hoffman (1993 and 2002).
In November 1982, they released their presentation Violent Femmes. The music was a unique combination of American folk music and underground rock that became known as society punk. The gathering quickly grew an after that never devolved into conventional corporate avarice.
