The Savage Femmes were an American alternative musical group that operated from 1980 until 2009. They were formed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The band continued as a trio, with Gordon Gano as vocalist-guitarist and musician, Brian Ritchie as bassist, and two drummers, Victor DeLorenzo (1980 and 1993/2002 and 2009) and Guy Hoffman (1993 and 2002). In November 1982, they released their presentation Violent Femmes. The music was a unique combination of American folk music and underground rock that became known as society punk. The gathering quickly grew an after that never devolved into conventional corporate avarice. Among the songs that have received recognition are Add It Up, Blister in the Sun, Gone Daddy Gone Kiss Off, and Please Do Not Go. Almost a decade after its first release, the introductory collection was certified platinum. Following the release of their presentation collection, they released Hallowed Ground, which brought the crowd to a down-home music style and addressed meaningful issues. Their third album, 1986's The Blind Leading the Naked, produced by renowned Milwaukee resident Jerry Harrison of Talking Heads, was more conventional and pop-oriented, resulting in a small hit with Children of the Revolution, originally by T.Rex."
