Vincent Viola, the son of a truck worker from Brooklyn, founded the electronic-exchange business Virtu Financial in 2008. He launched the organization in April 2015, promoting its no-lose strategy and the fact that it profited on 1484 of its first 1485 days of inactivity.
In Michael Lewis' book Flash Boys, the author emphasized Virtu's string of victories as evidence of the enormous instructional leeway that high-recurrence dealers have over other financial professionals. Viola graduated from West Point in 1977 and then from New York Law School in 1983. In 2016, he allegedly spent $105 million for a Brooklyn apartment near where he grew up.
