Vincent Cochetel is the Regional Representative for the United States and the Caribbean for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Washington, DC. Cochetel joined UNHCR in 1986, first working as a legal/assurance officer in several duty stations mostly in Eastern and Western Europe.
He was in charge of UNHCR field offices in Central Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East at the time. Cochetel became involved in a number of crises missions in Asia, West Africa, and Europe (North Caucasus). In September 2002, he was appointed chief of the Inspector General's Office's Investigation Unit at UNHCR Headquarters in Geneva.
