The Arctic Institute's president and managing director is Victoria Herrmann. Along with working with the Institute and Board of Directors, her research and writing focus on asset economies, asset networks, and human turn of events, with an emphasis on Arctic oil and gas.
She is a Gates Scholar at the University of Cambridge's Scott Polar Research Institute where she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Geography of the Arctic. In 2016, Herrmann traveled throughout the country for a book on environmental change tales called America's Eroding Edges, which was funded by National Geographic.
