The 2009 C.B. Moore award for brilliance in Southeast prehistoric studies by an early career scholar went to Dr. Victor Thompson, a widely respected researcher. At Ohio State University, Dr. Thompson is an associate instructor of archaic exploration. His research interests are ancient studies of islands and coastlines, shallow geophysical verifiable environments, tracker-gatherer customs, and monumentality.
In Mexico, the Caribbean, the Midwest, and the Southeast, notably in Veracruz, Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida, he has worked on the ground and in historical centers. The University Press of Florida released his newly revised book, The Historical Ecology, and Archeology of Small-Scale Economies, in January 2013.
