The Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of African American Educational Studies is Vanessa Siddle Walker (B.A. College of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; M.Ed Harvard University; Ed. D Harvard University). She has studied the isolated tutoring of African American children for a long time, taking into account successively the culture that permeated isolated schools, the system of expert collaborations that explains the comparability across schools, and the covert support structures that demanded equity and equity for the students in the schools. Her research has garnered several awards, including the prestigious American Educational Association (AERA) Early Career Award and the prestigious Grawmeyer Award for Education ($200,000).
