The Canadian actress and singer Vanessa Morgan Mziray was born on March 23, 1992 in Ottawa, Ontario. She was discovered singing at a California festival when she was nine years old and won Junior Miss America in 1999 and then won first place at the African-American Vocal Competition and Junior Miss America.
She made her television debut in 2000 when she appeared on VH1’s A Diva’s Christmas Carol. Vanessa gained early success playing Amanda Pierce in The Latest Buzz (2007–2010), Sarah in My Babysitter’s a Vampire, and Beatrix “Bird” Castro in MTV’s Finding Carter. She and her sister participated in The Amazing Race Canada in 2013 where they achieved a third-place finish.
