Vanessa Hollingshead is an actress and stand-up comedian from the United States who has been on several comedy shows such as Comedy Central Presents, Live At Jongleurs and The Jim Breuer Show. She has also appeared in a number of films, including a brief role in Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, released in 1999. After years as an office temp, Hollingshead performed at the conclusion of a four-hour open mic night in 1994, remarking at the time that even Richard Pryor wouldn't be funny at this stage. Hollingshead delivered a twelve-minute set at the Comedy Strip on Second Avenue in New York nine months later. She was given a number of development opportunities as a consequence of her performance, as well as an invitation to appear on The Drew Carey Show, which she declined. In 1996, she made her debut appearance on television, on Jeffrey Ross's Tompkins Square program. In 1997 and 1998, he appeared on Live At Jongleurs and The Jim Breuer Show.
