Van Halen simultaneously redefined the fundamentals of hard rock and rock guitar with their 1978 self-titled debut. Eddie Van Halen redefined the capabilities of the electric guitar by developing a blindingly rapid technique using a variety of self-taught two-gave tapping, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and impacts that imitated the sounds of machinery and living things.
Vocalist David Lee Roth introduced the task of a metal artist to approach execution artisan standards, which was extremely inventive and over the top. Roth didn't have a great plan, unlike Eddie, but he did have a flair for dramatic artistry that he learned from relaxed artists like Robert Plant.
