Valerie Red-Horse Biography

The East Bay Community Foundation was established in 1928 with the goals of eradicating structural obstacles, advancing racial justice, and transforming societal political, social, and economic results. The foundation's chief financial officer is Valerie Red-Horse Mohl, a Cherokee-American. She brings her expertise as a financial professional to this position to drive programs centered on impact investing, racial equity, social justice, ESG, and diverse manager selections, as well as 100% mission alignment of portfolio assets. In addition, Red-Horse Mohl serves as president of KNOWN Holdings, a revolutionary financial platform dedicated to fostering and expanding the BIPOC economy. She was formerly the CEO and Executive Director of Social Venture Circle, a nonprofit organization that pioneers sustainable business practices and social impact investing. She has more than 25 years of extensive experience in the financial services, asset management, and investment banking industries. She is also the CEO and founder of Red-Horse Financial Group, Inc. She has a specialization in the area of Native American tribal governments. In addition to having raised, arranged, and managed over $3 billion in money for tribal governments, Red-Horse Mohl is recognized for launching the first Native American-owned investment bank. He now holds seven FINRA licenses. As the CEO and creator of Red-Horse Native Productions, Inc., which Red-Horse Mohl directs, produces, and creates critical documentaries on underrepresented Native American experiences, she also serves as its president. She chairs the advisory board for the Center for the Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity at Stanford University and teaches two undergraduate courses there on racial equity and entrepreneurship for social impact. In 2008, Red-Horse Mohl was admitted into the Hall of Fame of the National Association of Women Business Owners. She chairs the boards of the National Boys & Girls Clubs Native American Services and Intentional Endowments Network. Red-Horse Mohl graduated from UCLA with a B.A. with Cum Laude honors, and he has established a number of charitable organizations on reservations around the country. Red-Horse Mohl and former NFL player Curt Mohl have been married since 1982. Together, they have three children: Courtney graduated from Stanford University in 2007; Derek attended California Lutheran University in 2012, and Chelsea graduated from Stanford University in 21.
