Chef Valentine Warner was born in 1972. In the fall of 2008, he made his television debut on the BBC with the cooking show What to Eat Now, which was adapted from his book of the same name.

His parents were the diplomat Frederick Warner, the former British Ambassador to Japan from 1972 to 1975, and Simone Georgina de Ferranti (née Nangle). From 1985 until 1990, he attended Bedales School in Hampshire. He began training as a portrait painter at the Byam Shaw School of Art in 1994.
