In Rome, Italy, Cervi was conceived. She is the granddaughter of the renowned Italian on-screen figure Gino Cervi and the daughter of businessman Tonino Cervi. At the age of 10, Cervi made her acting debut in Carlo Cotti's 1986 film Portami la luna.
She also took on a role speaking English in Jane Campion's 1996 film The Portrait of a Lady. One of her most well-known roles was the title role in the 1997 Agns Merlet-directed film Artemisia.
