Valentin "Val" Chmerkovskiy is a Ukrainian-American professional dancer, choreographer, and television personality. Hailing from Odesa, Ukraine, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1994 with his family, including his brother Maksim, also a dancer.
Val is best known for his role on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” (DWTS), where he has competed in multiple seasons, winning the Mirrorball Trophy twice: in Season 20 with Rumer Willis and in Season 23 with Laurie Hernandez. A 14-time U.S. National Latin Dance champion and two-time World Latin Dance champion, Val is a prominent figure in ballroom dance.
