Udit Batra Biography

Udit Batra, who was born in New Delhi, India, on January 7, 1971, joined the Merck Executive Board in April 2016. He is in charge of the Life Sciences industry, which he has been the CEO of since 2014. Before that, he was in charge of Merck's Consumer Health division. Udit Batra also became the leader of the Executive Board's Business Technology division in September 2017. Udit Batra oversaw global public health and market access for Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics before joining Merck in 2011. Prior to that, he held a number of key executive positions, including Country President for Novartis Australia's Pharma division and Global Head of Corporate Strategy at Novartis Switzerland. Additionally, he had a number of executive positions at the renowned consulting firm McKinsey & Company in the non-profit and consumer healthcare industries. At the American pharmaceutical firm MSD, where Udit Batra began his career, he was a research engineer. Udit Batra earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University. He has two kids and is married.
