Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown Biography

Tyler acquired his first guitar when he was six years old. When he was 11, he traded the dirtbike his parents had just given him for Christmas and went to Hollybond's Music Store in Paris, TX to buy his first electric guitar, a crimson Epiphone Les Paul. He met Roosevelt Twitty, a 63-year-old bluesman from Paris, Texas, while still in primary school. Tyler learned how to play the blues from Mr. Twitty. Tyler and Mr. Twitty began doing concerts throughout Texas when they were 13 years old. Tyler began composing songs about the same time. Tyler gave a performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2011. Tyler Bryant formed the Tyler Bryant Band when he was 15 years old. The band went on tour throughout Texas and its neighboring states. They performed in Germany and Prague at one time. He received the Robert Johnson Gibson New Generation Award for ambitious young guitarists in 2006, when he was 15 years old. Tyler was invited to play at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago by Eric Clapton in 2007. Tyler began listening to more rock & roll music throughout high school, including The Black Crowes, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. This music began to influence the songs he wrote and performed. Tyler came to Nashville at the age of 17 to create songs and met drummer Caleb Crosby and bassist Calvin Webster along the way. Caleb and Calvin have joined Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, which now features bass guitarist Noah Denney and guitarist Graham Whitford (son of Aerosmith's Brad Whitford). To mention a few, Tyler has toured with or opened for Jeff Beck, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Bonamassa, B.B. King, Pat Benatar, Heart, Smash Mouth, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Vince Gill. Tyler has been compared to guitarist Vince Gill, who remarked, "To be 18 and play like this kid is the rarest of the rare." Without a doubt, a future guitar god. Tyler played at the historic Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles in 2009 for the Grammy Foundation's 11th Annual Music Preservation Event: Music in Focus. Tyler has collaborated with musicians such as Led Zeppelin's Kevin Shirley, Jeff Beck's Jed Leiber, and Roger Alan Nichols. Tyler's song Who I Am is included in Guitar Hero 5's downloadable DLC. Tyler published his debut rock EP, My Radio, in March 2011, followed by another EP, From The Sandcastle, in August 2011. Tyler Bryant (lead vocals, guitar), Graham Whitford (guitar & backup vocals), Noah Denney (bass & backing vocals), and Caleb Crosby are the current members of the band (drums).
