However, Ty Segall produced a far more conventional sound on his solo album Lemons by painstakingly recreating '60s guitar tones and drowning his recordings in vintage reverb. The stomping results sounded remarkably like the proto-punk Stooges, bedroom folk forerunner Alexander Skip Spence, the Sonics, and the Standells, as well as early garage masters. In 2010, he reappeared with Melted.
The publication of two CDs Live in Aisle Five and Goodbye Bread, as well as an EP of T. Rex's tributes to Ty-Rex kept him busy in 2011. Goodbye Bread signaled a shift in Segall's sound toward a softer, more contemplative side that was reminiscent of John Lennon.
