Former American football player Troy Polamalu, of Samoan heritage, had his whole twelve-year career with the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a part of two Super Bowl-winning Steelers squads and was named the league's defensive player of the year in 2010.
Polamalu was utilized by the Steelers in a significant number of defensive plays and in a variety of defensive responsibilities. He tied the NFL record for the most sacks by a safety in a single game with three in only his third season (2005).
