Singer-songwriter Tristan Prettyman performs music. She recently released her debut big label album, Twentythree, on Virgin Records. At the age of twelve, Prettyman enrolled in surfing as an elective at her junior high school. Prettyman received a mix cassette of Ani DiFranco's songs when he was about 15 years old.
She listened to the album nonstop and claimed that DiFranco's music still has a special place in her heart, acting as a reminder of the beginning of Prettyman's creative aspirations. Prettyman started tinkering with her father's old acoustic guitar after hearing DiFranco's songs and partly as a result of her tendency to be a self-described curious child.
