She obtained her chef's license at Tante Marie's in San Francisco in 1985 and went on to become a culinary instructor and cookbook author. She has also edited a large number of cookbooks, including the James Beard Award-winning Williams-Sonoma Entertaining series. There have been guest appearances on Oprah, the Ainsley Harriot Show, and Home Cooking with Amy Coleman on national television. She was Appetite for Adventure's host.
