Tony Benford is an American basketball coach who is the head men's coach at the University of North Texas. He was born on March 22, 1964. Benford previously worked as an assistant coach for the Marquette Golden Eagles men's basketball team under Buzz Williams. Benford's first coaching job was with the New Mexico Lobos as an assistant coach.
Before joining the Golden Eagles in 2008, he worked as an assistant with the Arizona State Sun Devils and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. For the 2011-12 season, Benford was elevated to assistant head coach at Marquette. Benford was named the new head men's basketball coach of the North Texas Mean Green on April 24, 2012.
