Tony Barbee is a former head basketball coach at Auburn University in the United States. Barbee was a member of the University of Massachusetts basketball team, which was coached by John Calipari. Barbee later worked as an assistant coach under Calipari at Memphis, and he frequently referred to him as a mentor.
Barbee has previously served as an assistant coach at UTEP. Barbee was chosen as the new head coach at Auburn University on March 24, 2010, making him the school's first African-American head coach in a major sport. Barbee was sacked after four years on the job on March 12, 2014.
