Tonier Cain

Tonier Cain has become a worldwide known trauma survivor who writes and films while using her life transformation from addiction and homelessness to healing and advocacy to inspire people across the globe. Tonier Cain spent her first thirty years in Annapolis Maryland while experiencing twenty-nine years of neglect and sexual abuse and domestic violence and homelessness. She spent nineteen years living on the streets where she accumulated 83 arrests and 66 convictions while medical professionals incorrectly diagnosed her with mental illness. Her life changed when she discovered the link between her past trauma and her current situation which led to her recovery and her mission to assist others.

The trauma-informed care expert now leads training sessions for providers across all 50 U.S. states and multiple international locations. She led the National Center for Trauma-Informed Care as the team leader under the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors. Her efforts have played a crucial role in developing trauma-informed protocols throughout the world.
