Toni American singer-songwriter, pianist, record producer, and actor Michelle Braxton. Bill Pettaway, a composer, heard Braxton singing to herself at a petrol station. Braxton and her sisters joined Arista Records in 1990 with Pettaway's assistance. Producers Antonio L.A. Reid and Kenneth Babyface Edmonds saw Braxton and later had her record a number of songs for them before signing with their LaFace Records subsidiary, which is distributed by Arista. The second studio album by Braxton (1996), Secrets, continues to enjoy tremendous success, selling 15 million copies. One of the biggest songs by a female artist in Billboard history, Un-Break My Heart spent 11 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Braxton won two more Grammy Awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for Secrets. Only twice in the annals of the Grammys has a female singer won both the Pop and R&B Vocal Performance prizes in the same event.
