Actor Tom Irwin is American. He attended Illinois State University after being born in Peoria, Illinois. In 1979, he became a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where he shared the stage with Laurie Metcalf, John Malkovich, Joan Allen, and Gary Sinise. He played the soft-spoken father Graham Chase in the 1994 ABC television series My So-Called Life.
For three seasons starting in 2007, he played a recurrent character on the television show Saving Grace.
