Tom Freston, a founding member of MTV, most recently held the position of CEO of Viacom. He was appointed CEO of MTV Networks in 1987, and during that time he launched various auxiliary product lines and tie-ins, including The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He also used his position to strengthen the networks' presence in new areas.
Freston oversaw both cable network properties (MTV Networks and Showtime Networks) as well as Paramount Pictures and Simon & Schuster's publishing companies as Viacom's CEO starting in 2004. He serves as Senior Advisor to the boutique merchant bank The Raine Group and as a board member of the media companies Imagine Entertainment, Vice Media, and Moby Group in Dubai.
