Tina Tchen practices law. Between 2011 and 2017, Tchen worked as Michelle Obama's chief of staff and the president's assistant. She also led the first-ever White House Summit on Working Families and the first-ever United States of Women Summit while working in the Obama Administration as the Executive Director of the Council for Women and Girls.
In order to make sure that all branches of the federal government attended to the concerns of women and girls, President Obama established the council in March 2009. She formerly served as the White House Office of Public Engagement Director.
