Tim Walz is the 41st Governor of Minnesota and the Democratic vice presidential nominee for Kamala Harris’ failed 2024 presidential ticket bid, which lost to Donald Trump and JD Vance. A native of West Point, Nebraska, Walz grew up in rural Middle America, enlisting in the Army National Guard at age 17. He served for 24 years before retiring in 2005 as a master sergeant.
After the military, he attended Chadron State College in his home state. He became a social studies teacher and football coach at Mankato West High School, leading the team to a state championship in 1999.
