Tim King is the founder, president, and CEO of Urban Prep Academies, a nonprofit group that runs a network of public high schools for boys that are college-prep in Chicago, including the first all-male charter high school in the country. It also runs programs that are related to fostering college success.
All African-American male graduates of Urban Prep, the majority of whom are from low-income homes, have received admission to four-year schools and institutions. Tim has written for the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, and the Huffington Post in addition to being an adjunct instructor at Northwestern University.
