Tim Cavanaugh Biography

He began by performing with the Los Angeles comedy/improv troupe The Groundlings, alongside other cast members Ana Gasteyer, Maya Rudolph, and former SNL repertory actor Laraine Newman. Beginning their careers were Phil Hartman and Jon Lovitz. There he met Chris Kattan, with whom he eventually became good friends before both of them joined Saturday Night Live. During his tenure at The Groundlings, he also made many television appearances, notably on Strangers with Candy Grace Under Fire and Living Single. Will also provided the voice for The Oblongs' armless and legless father. During a quick recasting of Saturday Night Live in 1995, he was added as a featured cast member. During his debut season, he was dubbed probably the worst cast member ever. However, his imitation skills and wide range of roles propelled him to become possibly the best SNL cast member ever. He played George W. Bush during the 2000 elections and was one of the few cast members to ever be nominated for an Emmy for performance throughout his seven-year career. Since making his Saturday Night Live debut in 1995, he has been in every film adaptation of the show. He was the first cast member to ever receive a goodbye from the whole current cast at the conclusion of the season finale show when he departed SNL in 2002. Will has worked hard to seek a career in movies since leaving the program. He wed in 2000, and he now resides in Los Angeles.
