From preschool through the seventh grade, Taylor attended the private LCDS school in Leesburg, Virginia. Her father was given custody of her after her parents got divorced when she was 10 years old. She relocated to Virginia with her father and new stepmother when she was 13 years old to attend an all-female catholic high school when her father remarried.
There, she took part in a number of activities while studying French and Latin. In November 1996, Taylor competed in a Hawaiian Tropic pageant before being approached by photographer David Mecey about joining Playboy. Before being chosen as Playmate of the Month in November 1998, she appeared in several Playboy Newsstand Specials.
