Thuan held the positions of Vice President of Engineering at Westbridge Technology Inc. and Vice President of R&D — Cloud Management Platform at VMware. 2013 saw Thuan Pham join Uber.
Thuan Pham departed Vietnam, a nation ripped apart by a two-decade conflict, in 1979 on a refugee boat. Thuan, a 10-year-old boy, his mother, a small sibling, and roughly 370 other passengers without life jackets were aboard the 60-meter boat. Thuan and his family had been turned away as refugees when they arrived in Malaysia.
