The Middle District of North Carolina's district judge is Thomas D. Schroeder. He graduated from Kansas University in 1981 with a B.S. in Business Administration and went on to the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. In 1984, he earned a law degree from Notre Dame Law School, where he also served as Editor-in-Chief of the Notre Dame Law Review.
Following graduation, he worked as a legal clerk for the District of Columbia Circuit Judge George E. MacKinnon of the United States Court of Appeals. He joined Womble Carlyle's legal team where, as a partner, he oversaw trials and litigation covering a range of commercial and product liability issues.
