French economist Thomas Piketty is an expert in the study of economic inequality. He is the author of "Capital in the Twenty-First Century," he is still the director of studies at the École des Hautes études en sciences Sociales (EHESS), and he now holds the associate chair at the Paris School of Economics.
Piketty was born in Clichy, close to Paris, on May 7, 1971. After completing scientific prep courses and earning a C-stream (scientific) Baccalauréat, he enrolled in the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) at the age of 18 to study economics and mathematics. Piketty received his Ph.D.
