Co-founding and serving as CEO of Avalanche is Dr. Chalberg. By assembling the management team and scientific advisory board, as well as by managing commercial growth initiatives for in-licensing and research collaborations, he has advanced the firm. Dr. Chalberg worked in Genentech's ophthalmology division before joining Avalanche, where he helped create Lucentis, a cutting-edge treatment for age-related macular degeneration.
His research on retinal illnesses and cutting-edge gene therapy techniques was conducted when he was a Stanford Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow. Dr. Chalberg graduated Phi Beta Kappa a magna cum laude from Harvard University, where he also earned an A.B. He received an MBA from the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and a Ph.D.
