Independent adviser and consultant Theo Sowa specializes in worldwide social development with a focus on issues relating to children's rights and protection. At the moment, she serves as the African Women's Development Fund's CEO. She was born in Ghana and has lived and worked in several African nations in addition to the UK, Europe, and the USA.
She also develops policies and advocates for them with a range of international agencies and organizations. Her work includes advising positions to African and other international women's and children's rights activists and leaders. She oversaw the report's five-year evaluation while serving as Senior Programme Advisor for the UN Study on Children and Armed Conflict (the Machel Report).
