Thee Oh Sees Biography

Thee Oh Sees is a 1997-founded American garage rock group from San Francisco, California. John Dwyer, the group's principal composer, and core member, plays vocals and guitar, Tim Hellman plays bass, and Ryan Moutinho and Dan Rincon play drums. Thee Oh Sees' music draws influences from a variety of rock eras, including 1960s garage rock, psychedelic rock, punk rock noise, 1980s post-punk, and more. Thee Oh Sees began as a platform for Dwyer (Coachwhips Pink and Brown and The Hospitals) to disseminate his experimental home recordings. Later, the group expanded to include Brigid Dawson on vocals and keyboard, Petey Dammit on bass guitar, Mike Shoun on drums, and Lars Finberg on bass (drums guitar). The band gained notoriety over the course of multiple albums and genre shifts for their extensive record, exciting live performances, and quirky aesthetic. The band was once known as Orinoka Crash Suite OCS Orange County Sound, but both its lineup and moniker have undergone several changes. The Ohsees as well as The Oh Sees The band's impending sabbatical was revealed toward the end of 2013. Dawson Dammit! and Shoun were replaced by Tim Hellman of Sic Alps and Nick Murray of White Fence for their 2014 studio album, Drop, and Thee Oh Sees went on tour as a three-piece. Dawson rejoined the group in 2015 to work on their upcoming studio album, Mutilator Defeated At Last. After its publication, Dwyer and Hellman started their tour with two drummers in place of Murray: Ryan Moutinho and Dan Rincon.
