The Wallflowers had a special bond with one of the primary influences during the roots-rock renaissance of the mid-'90s: singer-songwriter-guitarist Jakob Dylan. The Wallflowers are more influenced by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers than the original '60s folk rock, despite the fact that Jakob Dylan is the son of a legend. Lyrically, though, Jakob still closely resembles the original Dylan.
After his parents divorced in 1977, Jakob Dylan was born in 1970 and was raised by his mother Sara Lowndes in Los Angeles. By the late 1980s, after attending prestigious schools in New York and Los Angeles, he had made up his mind to take after his father.
