The Spinners were recording infrequently and charting even less frequently, working with Motown's second tier producers and catching opening act gigs where they could, while Motown star groups like the Temptations and Four Tops were headlining shows around the world and choosing from the top songs of Smokey Robinson, Norman Whitfield, and Holland-Dozier-Holland.
