Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and reared in Coal Branch, New Brunswick, Canada across the border Early years for THE ROYS were spent listening to music. Elaine remembers that her aunts and uncles joined in while their grandmother, Grandma LeBlanc, performed Acadian music on her violin. "The music was genuine 'Roots'. Our harmonies seemed to match that kind of music, and we fell in love with that "honest" sound, continues Lee. Lee developed his skills on the drums, bass, and mandolin while growing up in a family where guitar pulls were commonplace. At the age of nine, he joined his first bluegrass band. Elaine started playing the guitar and singing at the age of five, and at the early age of ten, she made her first performance on stage.
